Dear
Friends:
(Tiếng Việt )
I am writing this letter to request your help in organizing
this year’s Trung Thu Festival to be held at Thomas
Jefferson Community Center in Arlington Virginia. This
year’s Festival will take place on Sunday, September
18th, 2005 between the hours of 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. In
years past, this event often attracted close to 1000
people. Like years past, this festival will feature
carnival style games, food and a youth performance show.
There will be prizes, raffles and even a paper lantern
contest. Every child will get a free paper lantern.
And admission is free to all.
Whether
in Vietnam or in America, Tet Trung Thu is one of our
most anticipated events of the year where the focus
is on the family and the children. A festival as large
as this requires many resources such as manpower and
money. As like in year’s past, this year’s
festival can only be successful if there is enough volunteers
and donation. Unfortunately, an event even as large
as this does not qualify for any U.S. government grant
or funding at this time. Through our associations, we
were able to secure the facility (T.J. Community Center)
from Arlington County. But we need moneys to buy prizes,
paper lanterns and rent audio/visual equipment for the
performance show.
That
is why I am appealing to you personally to make a contribution
to the well-being of our community by making a small
donation toward this year’s Trung Thu Festival.
When you make a donation, your money will go into a
general fund to help pay for all Trung Thu festival
expenses as mentioned above. And any left over moneys
will go toward all future Trung Thu festival. We are
accepting donations of $25 (Bronze Donor), $50 (Silver
Donor) or $100 or more (Gold Donor). In return, your
donation is tax deductible. We will recognize your generosity
in our program booklet & local Vietnamese newspaper
advertisement.
To make a donation, please write a check payable to
VCSMW and send it to:
VCSMW
P.O. Box 5091
Falls Church, VA 22044
Once
your donation is received, we will send
you a receipt with our tax-exempt information.
You can also contribute in another important way. In
addition to your donation, please consider coming on
out and give us a hand. We estimated that it would take
somewhere between 75 to 100 volunteers to make this
event a success. For more information, please visit
our website at http://www.vcsmw.org or contact us via
email at info@vcsmw.org
and we will put you on our mailing list. I hope to hear
from you soon.
Sincerely,
Quang H. Le
